Prayer is the practice of the presence of God. It is the place where pride is abandoned, hope is lifted, and supplication is made. Prayer is the place of admitting our need, of adopting humility, and claiming dependence upon God. Prayer is the needful practice of the Christian. Prayer is the exercise of faith and hope. Prayer is the privilege of touching the heart of the Father through His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. James 4:8

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Phil. 4:6-7

Father, in Your mercy, hear our prayers.

I have slipped over the edge of the boat I call church and am now in cold water. I was holding on to the railing of that boat and the wind and rain helped my hands grow tired and slip. I called for help but I know that the captain and crew were busy rearranging the deck chairs. Relief is probably the feeling they have -maybe too many people onboard is hard to accommodate.

I am not alone in this large sea- some people still have on their life jackets but others are taking them off and silently submerge - no sound, no breath, no stuggle.

I cant re-enter a boat -maybe there is another way to get out of the water? Pray for God to be with me.

Two young girls, aged 16, committed suicide this last weekend in an apparent suicide pact. I wept when I heard the news.

I ask you all to pray for the families of the girls, that they can find understanding in this time and comfort from the Lord. I pray for the school and the friends of the girls, that they will seek life, love and God and that they will never feel so alone or lost that they cannot speak to their Father in Heaven.

Lastly I pray that the church will love those who are lost in the world and not just those who hurt in our buildings or in mission programmes.
