Together in Mission

Together in Mission began in 1992 using the name Challenge 2000. The original vision was to work with the denominations to implement the DAWN (Discipling a Whole Nation) strategy which was first developed in the Philippines.

Most of the denominations adopted a church planting policy and strategy but also discovered that the implementation was not as simple as first thought. That led to a time of serious reflection on issues such as:

  • What is the church?
  • What new forms of the church are needed?
  • How can we better understand the culture we are trying to reach?

Having asked these challenging questions church leaders recognised that we needed more than ambitious goals. As the new century approached, Challenge 2000 changed its name to Together in Mission.

Along with the name change came a determination to offer training and resources, strategies and materials.

Today, Together in Mission is passionately committed to working with the churches to encourage church planting but also to help transition existing churches to be the kind of churches that are able to church plant

Re:Source

Re:source church planting is training people with a vision to engage in mission and start churches in the emerging culture.

DAWN

DAWN is an acronym for "Discipling a Whole Nation". It is a strategy developed to fulfil our Lord's command to "make disciples of all nations" (Matt 28:19,20). To do this DAWN seeks to mobilise the whole body of Christ in a nation to provide Christ-centred cells, congregations or churches for every village and neighbourhood of every class, kind and condition of person in the nation.

NieuCommunities

Our hope and calling is to shape uncommon followers of God as we follow in the footsteps of Jesus together. Jesus lingered long with God, and so we carve out time to do the same. We call this communion. He did life day-in and day-out with a small band of sojourners, so we choose to share our lives with each other. We call this community. He lived with an unwavering purpose as he created spiritual home for others, so we open our hearts to be taught how to live on purpose wherever we find ourselves in the world. We call this mission. Communion, Community, and Mission are the three streams that run through everything we do in NieuCommunities. Each of our communities sets out every year to pursue God relentlessly, to allow our faith and character to be transformed in the crucible of community, and to submerge into the cultures around us and make a difference in people’s lives.
