National Director:
Alan Hirsch
Alan is the founding director of Forge. His current role in the network isas national director and coordinator. He lives in community in St Kilda (Australia) with Debra and others. He is an author (The Shaping of Things to Come & The Forgotten Ways), dreamer, mission strategist, and local missionary. His experience in leadership includes leading a local churchmovement among the marginalized as well as heading up the Mission and Revitalization work of his denomination. He is adjunct professor at Fuller Seminary and lectures frequently throughout Australia. Alan and Debra are relocating to the US until about 2010 to help develop leadership training systems there as well as to begin a doctorate in mission and theology at Fuller.
New South Wales Director:
Peter Horsley
Peter heads up the Forge network in NSW and is also a key leader in a missional community called Small Boat Big Sea, pioneering a new work in Manly. He has worked in Queensland as a youth worker, a Landscape Architect and in NSW running small business and now also works with young people with disabilities. He lives in Manly with his wife Katrina and 3 kids – Jadon, Kamden and India.
Queensland Director:
Steve Turner
Steve and Felicity live with their 5 children on the Sunshine Coast. They have 25 years of involvement in youth ministry, community development and training with YFC, Cornerstone Community, Youth Ministries, local Churches and now leading Forge. The Turners co-lead Joshua tree, a mission community on the coast intentionally involved in the rhythms of local community life with a focus on families, since we all have them. They work as Sports First Aiders as a means of community service and support. Steve teachers at J-Life in South Africa and has been involved in mission in the US, Philippines, NZ and Uganda, pioneering the Forge QLD Network 3 years ago. He is renovating their home, loves time out with his family and his shed, swimming, snow skiing and motor bikes.
South Australian Director:
TIm Hein

Tim is the SA Director of FORGE, and is currently in the process of planting a new missional church in Adelaide. Tim has had a diverse 10 years in ministry, including time in large churches, new church planting and inner-city marginal contexts, including 5 years at St Martins Community Church in Melbourne (God's Squad Church), and Concern Australia. He then spent 3 years on Faculty at Tabor College Victoria co-ordinating the Yearintheson program, during which he assisted Mark Sayers in the establishment of 'East', a missional emerging church in Melbourne. He was then Young Adults Pastor at a Hope Valley Uniting Church for 3 years. As well as establishing a new missional church, he is currently a Strategic Consultant with Capacity Builders. Tim speaks and preaches regularly around Australia at churches, colleges, camps and conferences. He is extremely passionate about growing healthy missional churches throughout the Australia, and the development of young integrated leaders. He has a wife, Priscilla, and daughter, Claudia.
Tasmanian Director:
Darryn Altclass
Darryn is the Director for Forge Tasmania. Locally with a group of friends he has pioneered a network of mission communities called Third Place Communities - a collective of missionary churches geared for social contexts such as pubs & homes. Darryn also lectures in Spirituality, Mission & Evangelism at Tabor College & various other contexts around Australia. Darryn, his wife Corry & their daughter Georgie reside in Hobart.
Victorian Director:
Kim Hammond
Kim has been married to Maria since 1994. They have three little boys Lachlan Carter and Jordan. They live in Officer, in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, 45 minutes travel from the city. They lead the team at The Junction (www.thejunction.info) which they planted it in 2001. Kim was the youth pastor then cell pastor at South Eastern Christian Centre a Pentecostal church in Endeavour Hills for several years before planting. (CRC churches international) Kim has spoken at youth camps and services around Victoria. In 2001 Kim spoke at the National Youth Conference in New Zealand. Since then he has spoken in churches in most of the states in Australia and haspreached in London and the Czech Republic. He has taken seminars on mission to the first world, mentoring and leadership. He is a people person and pastor to the missionary and innovative leaders at forge. He is currently the Victorian Director of Forge and splits his time between the Junction and Forge.
Western Australian Director:
Andrew Hamilton
Andrew is the Director for Forge Western Australian. Andrew has spent 10 years in youth ministry, 2 years as a pastoral team leader and is now the team leader of Upstream Communities a missional community in the new Perth suburb of Brighton. He is responsible for oversight of all aspects of the Forge internship and intensive programs
